About Persephone:
In Greek mythology, Persephone is the goddess of the underworld. She is the daughter of Zeus & Demeter, goddess of the harvest. She was abducted by Hades and Hermes was sent by Zeus to make Hades release her. Hades loved her so much he made a garden in the underworld just for her. Until then she had not eaten anything because see knew if she did it would bind her to Hate’s forever. Askalaphos, Hades Gardener of the underworld offered a pomegranate to tempt her and cut it into 3 pieces. She was so hungry, would one little bite hurt? Hermes arrived to take her home to Demeter and asked her if she had eaten anything. She hesitated and was about to say no when Akalaphos said look at her hands. They were stained from the pomegranate oops! she had to stay. Hermes and Persephone were so upset they demanded to take her case to the counsel on Mount Olympus. The gods were not happy and did not know what to do. Hestia, the hearth goddess offered a solution. Since she only at 1/3 of the fruit, she could stay with Hades for 1/3 of a year and then spend 2/3 of the year with Demeter. This was accepted. Demeter had a dark side and through a spell turned Askalaphos into a gecko!
